The 2026 CMiG Fundraiser was a huge success

Set in the Harbour Room, St Kilda, against the stunning backdrop of a bright blue sky and the bay, the annual Connecting Mothers in Grief (CMiG) Fundraiser welcomed more than 130 guests for a memorable afternoon tea featuring award winning comedian Annie Louey https://www.annielouey.com/ who wove lightness and laughter while recounting her own experiences of loss and grief.

Sarah Thomson, a proud Awakabal woman and member of CMiG, opened the afternoon with a heartfelt Acknowledgement of Country, which also honoured her son who had returned to the Dreaming. Her words set a deeply meaningful tone for the event.

Guests also heard from Deb Wildish, one of our mums from the Northern Territory, who shared her deeply personal experience following the death of her daughter and how her life has shifted since joining CMiG. Her story was both emotional and uplifting, highlighting the importance of connection, understanding, and support within our community.

In the background, the kids  helped run a silent auction featuring many luxury items generously donated by supporters. There was also a raffle and a pop-up stall selling CMiG merchandise. All funds raised will go towards the administration of the charity, supporting our programs, and expanding our outreach to grieving mothers who need our services.

It was a very special afternoon filled with warmth, hugs, connection, and many moments that left everyone feeling uplifted and supported.
